Star Wars Legion

Just getting around to opening the SWL box.

Publishers Description

"Warfare is an inescapable part of the Star Wars universe, from the Rebel Alliance’s defeat in the Battle of Hoth to a few elite Rebel strike teams taking on a legion of stormtroopers on the Forest Moon of Endor. You can seize your chance to get your boots on the ground and lead your troops to victory with Star Wars™: Legion, a miniatures game of thrilling infantry battles in the Star Wars universe!"

"Star Wars: Legion invites you to enter the ground battles of the Galactic Civil War as the commander of a unique army of miniatures filled with troopers, powerful ground or repulsor vehicles, and iconic characters like Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker. While innovative mechanics for command and control simulate the fog of war and the chaos of battle, the game’s unpainted, easily assembled minis give you a canvas to create the Star Wars army you’ve always wanted to lead into battle—whether you fight for the monolithic, oppressive Galactic Empire or the ragtag Rebel Alliance."

4-LOM (Zuckuss) 1982 ESB

While 4-LOM and Zuckuss are now quite well-known to fans, their proper names were initially a topic of considerable debate. When Kenner first produced the figures, the names somehow got reversed. But since these two bounty hunters were not identified in the film, the switch was not immediately noticed. When the mix-up as finally caught and corrected in 1989, Zuckuss and 4-LOM finally got their rightful identities.

Luke Skywalker A New Hope 1977

Date Stamp: 1977
Release: 1978

Don't call me "Farmboy". Luke Skywalker was available for purchase by two methods. There was the single carded version with an image of him on the box and also the early bird certificate package.
The action figure had a few different variants. the differences were in the hair colour. Arguably most common was the yellow blonde hair variant. there were also grey, hazelnut and brown haired variants.  Came with only one accessory:the yellow telescoping light-saber. A rare version of this light-saber is called the double telescoping light-saber.

Artoo-Detoo R2-D2 1977 SW ESB with Sensorscope

Date Stamp: 1977
Release Date: 1981

R2-D2, pronounced Artoo-Detoo and often referred to as Artoo, was an R2 series astromech droid manufactured by Industrial Automaton with masculine programming. A smart, spunky droid serving a multitude of masters over its lifetime, R2 never had a major memory wipe or received new programming resulting in an adventurous and independent attitude. Oftentimes finding himself in pivotal moments in galactic history, his bravery and ingenuity often saved the galaxy time and time again.  R2-D2, pronounced Artoo-Detoo and often referred to as Artoo, was an R2 series astromech droid manufactured by Industrial Automaton with masculine programming. R2-D2 came with a rota-table dome, sensor-scope and a paper wrap which meant that when it got wet or was played with continuously it rubbed off, as can be seen with this one, with that in mind this figure has seen plenty of action in the past and is looking somewhat worse for wear.

Wave 17 (1) 2018 Vintage Collection Review

Release: April 13th 2018

The Vintage looking card backs are cool with decent images of the figure on them from the film, they also include the Vintage logo, unfortunately nowadays there has to be lots of information in different languages and half of the back is taken up with warnings. The card stock is slightly thinner than the original vintage collection however over all not too bad, you will need to be careful storing them.

For the first release of figures they are not as exciting as I thought they would be as there are 5 rereleases and one new figure, hopefully the next wave will be an improvement.

The figures are all highly detailed and have good articulation, thus they are not the cheapest figures released, I got these for £79.99 = £13.33 each.

As said most are repacks of other lines but its the packing that makes this collection, returning to the Vintage Kenner type card backs.

VC121 Supreme Leader Snoke TLJ

Snoke is a brand new figure and for 3.75" is well done. Snoke does look fleshy and the scar on his head is very good. Underneath his gold robe he is wearing a white jump suit with goold slippers. On his left hand he is wearing a ring. The collar uses a peg to adhere to the robe and can be removed. The robe cannot be removed. A nice figure overall.

VC120 Rebel Soldier (Hoth) ESB

This figure was originally released in a battlepack a few years back (8/9years?). Helmet is removable, accessories include a pistol, rifle and a back pack. Overall a very detailed figure. The actor on the card is Carl Bang, he was 17 when the picture was taken.

VC119 Jyn Erso R1

A re issue of Rogue One Jyn Erso maybe with slight paint variations. Her weapon is a pistol or rifle, the 3 pieces when put together make the rifle. A decent detailed figure if not the most flattering picture of Jyn from the film.

VC118 First Order Stormtrooper TFA

Comes with a side arm and main blaster, paint could be better, seems to be smudges around legs and helmet, for a more expensive figure it should be better.

VC117 Kylo Ren TFA

Choice of sabre, unlit or lit. Same mould as the original version.

VC116 Rey (Jakku) TFA

Rey comes with a change of head, one covered the other not, also a back pack and staff. It may have been a good option to have the choice of hands, gloved or not. Another nice figure.

Overall Wave 1 or 17 is a great addition in my opinion. Very glad it has come back as it allows me to build up my own collection and have figures from newer films, usually I'm only interested in the pre 1985 figures, I will be collecting these as this new collection generally looks pretty good.

Solo Movie Trailer

In cinemas May 25th

Does Chewie survive?

Looking forward to this film very much.
